At Aarhus Clinic the
treatment of chronic sickness is individualized with the
help of a broad range of scientific modalities - nutrition,
chelation, detoxification and immunotherapy - that seek to
restore damaged bio-systems either alone or in cooperation
with conventional medicine and surgery.
We call our specialty holistic medicine, because we
believe chronic sickness is a complex process that
requires complementary solutions. The treatment of injured
tissues and organs with medicine is important, but so too
is the restoration of bio-systems, which have contributed
to the occurrence of disease.
The state of these holistic bio-systems are the physicians
checklist of fundamental causes of illness and include:
energy metabolism, nutrition, detoxification,
gastro-intestinal conditions, free radical-antioxidant
balance , cell membrane factors, DNA transcription/repair,
immune function and psycho-neuro-hormone relations.
A holistic approach will use bio-response modifiers (BRMs)
to reestablish a healthy balance in these whole systems.
BRMs are the holistic physician’s trademark, just as
prescription drugs are for the conventionel doctor. Long
term use of drugs carries the risk of side effects, drug
toxicity and diminished function. In contrast, BRMs
cooperate with the body’s inherent capacity to heal. BRMs
include:
|
food-source vitamins, organic
minerals and other orthomolecular (bio-identical) molecules -
essential fatty acids (EPA, DHA, GLA), microflora (lactobacilli,
bifidobacterium), enzymes |
|
pharmaceutical plant
nutrients (indole-3-carbinole, proanthocyanidin) |
|
organ- (thyroid, thymus,
cartilage) and herbal extracts (misteltoe, green tea, chlorophyl,
ginkgo biloba, ginseng, silymarin, echinacea) |
|
bio-identical hormones (melatonin,
DHEA, progesterone, thyroid) |
|
enzymatically alive whole
foods (soy, flax seed, algae) |
