EDTA CHELATION THERAPY
Atherosclerosis is a chronic, progressive circulatory disease, which
causes increasing accumulations of plaque along the the inner wall of
arterial blood vessels, so there gradually is a closing off of blood
flow to heart, brain, legs, eyes, and other vital organs.
When atherosclosis reduces blood circulation, symptoms begin to appear –
typically as breast pain, shortness of breath, fainting, dizziness, leg
pain or cold feet. In the heart it can come as coronary thrombosis (heart
attack); in the legs gangrene with amputation to follow; or in the brain
as a stroke.
EDTA chelation therapy is an effective, safe metod for reestablishing
increased blood flow without surgery for patients with blood vessel
occlusions caused by atherosclerosis. Infusions of magnesium-EDTA stop
the process of atherosclerosis at multiple points in its biological
course. The reestablishment of normal blood circulation occurs by
renewal of injured bio-systems in the following manner:
 |
Blood vessels are
widened: magnesium-EDTA dilates blood vessels |
 |
Plaque is
decalcified: calcium is pulled out of sclerotic plaque |
 |
Blood is thinned:
clot-forming aggregations of platelets are reduced |
 |
Atheroscleosis is
inhibited: |
 |
LDL-oxidation og
lipoprotein(a) are decreased, thus preventing arterial wall
injury. |
 |
Metal chelation
(-excretion) of iron, copper, lead and cadmium causes a millionfold
reduction of free radical reactions in blood vessels. |
Treatment Program
The therapy itself is given by intravenous infusion of EDTA (EthylenDiaminTetraAcetate),
magnesium and C-vitamin, which are infused over 3 hours, 2-3 times
weekly in a series of usually 24-36 individual treatments. The number of
treatments depends on the severity of the disease. Control consultations
occur at every 8th treatment to monitor the patient’s progress.
The intravenous part of the therapy is the foundation of the treatment.
Nevertheless, EDTA chelation is an all-encompassing program, where
changes in diet and lifestyle are encouraged for a more long-lasting
healing effekt. At Aarhus Clinic the course of treatment is
individualized after the following guidelines:
 |
Magnesium-EDTA infusions |
 |
Diet
therapy |
 |
Nutrient supplementation therapy |

Important
risk factors for atherosclerosis are smoking, overweight, high blood
pressure, high cholesterol, too little exercise and stress.
